TEXSEC Affiliate Program
TEXSEC Affiliate Program
What is the TEXSEC Affiliate Program?
The Texas Security Center’s (TEXSEC) Affiliation Program is designed to foster interdisciplinary research and collaboration in the field of security studies. The concentration on security is a broad umbrella that goes beyond physical or kinetic security and armed conflict, including, but not limited to, food security, cyber security, critical infrastructure, health, and environmental crisis, among other topics and specializations.
We welcome researchers from all fields and backgrounds, regardless of previous experience in security-related questions. TEXSEC values contributions, perspectives, and voices from all professions. Current affiliates include sociologists, mathematicians, toxicologists, engineers, and ecologists, to name a few.

Admission to the Program is granted at the Director's discretion.
What You Can Expect from the Program
TEXSEC affiliation DOES NOT include direct financial support. However, affiliates are granted access to institutional facilities and resources. Those include library resources, research office, facilities, internal grants, writing center, and other resources. Additionally, affiliation affords greater opportunities and support for external grants.
Affiliates are also invited and expected to participate in conferences, workshops, and collaborative research initiatives. Scholars can be affiliated with us in-person or online, depending on the scholar’s circumstances and preferences, allowing scholars to pursue affiliation from anywhere in the world.
Program Objectives
The primary objectives of the Academic Affiliation Program are to create opportunities for academic research and innovation, interdisciplinary collaboration, to promote the pursuit of external funding opportunities, and to enhance international recognition for affiliates and the institution.
Terms of Affiliation
Affiliates are expected to demonstrate ongoing engagement with the program through one or more of the following: pursuit of external grants, contribution to scholarly publications, outreach projects, engagement with the TTU community, and participation in conferences. Continued affiliation is contingent upon consistent activity in these areas. The institution reserves the right to terminate affiliation at any time under the following conditions:
The affiliate fails to demonstrate sufficient scholarly activity (i.e., no evidence of grant activity, publications, or conference participation over a significant period).
The affiliate engages in conduct inconsistent with the mission and values of the institution.
The affiliate’s research ceases to align with the thematic scope of the program.
International Scholars
We welcome scholars from all disciplines and countries. However, for international scholars pursuing in-person affiliation with us, the Texas Security Center does not sponsor visas for affiliates and cannot guarantee the issuance or approval of visas.
The responsibility for securing the appropriate legal status for in-person affiliation rests entirely with the applicant.
